CT Scan
Computerized Tomography (CT) combines X-ray and computer technology to show highly detailed, 3-D images of any part of the body, including bones, muscles, fat, organs and blood vessels.
CT is fast, painless, noninvasive and accurate. In emergency cases, it can reveal internal injuries and bleeding quickly enough to help save lives.
Some CT scans require contrast by IV and/or oral contrast depending on the area of the body being studied.
Most CT exams are brief, and take between 15-30 minutes.
Preparation For Your CT Scan
Preparations will depend on the type of test ordered by your physician and what part of your body will be examined.
Please notify our staff in advance if you have an allergy to iodine or have had a previous allergy to CT contrast.
If oral contrast is required for your exam, we will ask you to arrive early so you can to drink contrast before your study.
